Running at Disney was one of the most amazing experiences that I've had thus far;
running has really changed my life and I have to say that running at Disney has done the same. Completing 3 races in one weekend was something big, especially since it was Michelle's first half marathon! The 18 weeks leading up to the
Glass Slipper Challenge was definitely worth it although painstaking at times.
So glad I did this and I can't wait until I run at Disney again!
Day 120: Rest Day
Took today off for a few reasons.. mainly because I didn't want to run 2 days in a row with Disney next weekend, but also because it was a holiday Monday and I ended up working and running errands to get ready for Disney. Can't believe this is the week!
Day 121: Day Off
Last day at work today before heading to Orlando and it was somewhat of a long one. After work, I didn't feel like doing much except a quick dinner before I left for the week. As much as I would've loved for the dinner to last all night I knew I wanted to get home to my Mom to say bye before I left tomorrow AND I still had packing to do. Ended up getting all of that done and getting into bed some time around 12am.
Day 122: Travel Day!
Today's the day! Landed in Orlando around 6pm today, but the journey definitely started earlier in the day. Took a train from Mississauga to Burlington to meet up with Michelle and then we drove over to Buffalo, since that's where we were flying out of. Enjoyed some food I probably shouldn't be eating, but this kind of running weekend doesn't happen all the time. Plus, let's be honest I think I'm running enough this weekend to balance it all out. =)
Day 123: Expo Day!
Today Michelle and I went to the expo and enjoyed Florida, even though it was a chilly day. Didn't want to do too much since we had 3 races ahead of us. Read about the expo and all of the races here! =)

Total Workout Days This Week = 3/7
Total Training Workout Days = 94/126
Total Week Mileage = 36.1 km (22.4 miles)
Total Training Mileage = 463.2 km (287.81 miles)
Days Until Run Disney = 0 days... It's here!
This is the week!!!! Can't wait for Disney
and to complete this challenge, especially with
doing the 5k the day before the 10k and the
half marathon; nothing like the added challenge.
It's really going to be such a great trip,
especially because it's my first time going to Disney.
This has also been the week where I've really
started to be okay with only getting my workouts
in 3 or 4 days a week rather than 5 or 6 and sometimes 7 days. Granted, I know that will change once Disney is over, but it's been nice to have my time allocated elsewhere for the time being.
Day 113: Day Off
Still #streakingwiththeCOOLKIDS, but taking today off.
Day 114: Day Off
Ended up doing something after work, no trip for the gym for me today, but I'm okay with that.
Day 115: Gym Day
Today I went into the gym instead of being lazy like I have been for the past couple of weeks. Ended up doing 45 minutes on the elliptical and then did some strength training. As much as I feel like I'm being lazy I know I'm doing the smart thing by saving up my legs and any sort of energy I may have for Disney.
Day 116: Run Day (30 - 45 minutes)
When my friend Kim asked me if I wanted to go to the track I was all in; for starters, I really enjoy running with her, because time seems to pass like nobody's business AND secondly because I figured I should get at least 2 of my 3 runs in this week. We didn't do too bad today... The drop off just before I finished was me walking around the track with her for her cool down and then I picked it back up to finish 7k.
Day 117: Day Off
No reason for the day off, just took it.
Day 118: Rest Day
Took today off because I had plans, but also because I knew I wanted to run at the track with Kim tomorrow - always nicer to run with someone else.
Day 119: Run Day (4 miles)
Met Kim at the track today for another run after work and we went in just with the intention to run, no idea of a particular distance. I like days like these, because you just run until you're done and you're not too concerned about time, pace, distance, etc. We didn't maintain our pace as well as we did on Thursday, but you win some you lose some. Ended up doing 5.5 miles instead of 4 miles for my training run, so no complaints from me.
Total Workout Days This Week = 3/7
Total Training Workout Days = 91/119
Total Week Mileage = 16.1 km (10 miles)
Total Training Mileage = 427.1 km (265.38 miles)
Days Until Run Disney = 3 days, 16 hours...
So with week 16 coming to an end it just means
in about 2 weeks this journey will be coming
to an end. I know I haven't really been following
the training plan, but I have no doubts that I'll be completing this challenge and I'll be feeling good.
The main thing is listening to my body,
especially because the year hasn't even started
and there's lots of mileage and races ahead.
Day 106: Day Off
Yesterday marked the beginning of another round of #streaking withtheCOOLKIDS, but other than getting my mile in I took the day off. We got a ton of snow last night, so I just didn't want to head out to the gym if it wasn't necessary.
Day 107: Day Off
Back at work after yesterday's snow day and I probably should've hit the gym, but I took the day off. Trying to be good with my eating since I'm not in the gym as often these days and I'm not doing so bad. =)
Day 108: Run Day (30 - 45 min)
Today I went to the gym after a fairly long day and I have to say I was pretty impressed with my consistency. I just took it easy and the run felt great; looks like I'm getting back to normal, but I don't want to jump to conclusions so I'll probably just take it easy from now until Disney.
Day 109: Day Off
No gym today. That is all.
Day 110: Gym Day
These past couple of weeks haven't been easy, but I got into the gym today and did some light cardio for 45 minutes on the elliptical and then did an ab workout.
Day 111: Run Day
Today was exactly what I needed it to be all thanks to one of my favourite running buddies, Kim. We'd been talking about trying out a track in Milton (about 20 minutes away from me) to get our runs in since it looks like it's going to be cold for quite awhile and today was the day. I know that I had higher mileage for this weekend than I was planning to run, but I made the decision to just go with the flow rather than following the training plan since I haven't been feeling 100% lately. Today's run was awesome - probably one of the best training runs in awhile.
Day 112: Day Off
Today I had other plans and I knew I wasn't going to make it into the gym today. Had a great day, which included a lot of walking so I don't feel so bad.
Total Workout Days This Week = 3/7
Total Training Workout Days = 88/112
Total Week Mileage = 23.6km (14.66 miles)
Total Training Mileage = 411km (255.38 miles)
Days Until Run Disney = 11 days, 16 hours...
Last week wasn't productive and this week
I barely worked out - not the greatest feeling
in the world but I'll live. It's all about listening
to your body and doing what's best
for it long term, so I took quite a few days off.
Hopefully I start to feel like myself again,
because I'm on to week 16 and I've got just about
two and a half weeks to Disney.
Day 99: Rest Day
Since I just ran a PR yesterday and I wasn't trying not to kill myself, especially with all the travel ahead I opted to make today a rest day. Today was also my last day in New Orleans before heading back home to the much colder weather, so I wanted to make sure I got to enjoy as much of the city as I could before leaving; yesterday was a fantastic day - ran an amazing race, spent the day with 2 amazing friends enjoying good food and caught a basketball game, and had an unforgettable last evening on Bourbon Street. I truly had no desire to leave today, but I guess I gotta work to pay for these trips... So I left New Orleans with some new bling in hand and the definite desire to return in 2016.
Day 100: Gym Day
My legs were still feeling the half I ran on Sunday along with the many hours I was seated and stuck on a plane yesterday while I was flying back home, so today was just a light cardio day. I used the bike and the elliptical and I made sure to stretch it out before and after in hopes that I'd be back to work in the next day or so... Even iced my knees once I got home.
Day 101: Rest Day
Woke up today with my legs feeling more sore than they did yesterday morning, so I opted for more stretching and more icing.
Day 102: Rest Day
I'm not sure what I did wrong, but my legs aren't cooperating. Decided to see the doctor and it looks like inflamed tendons. Advil, ice, and 2 weeks rest were the doctor's orders.
Day 103: Gym Day
My legs still weren't feeling one hundred percent, but I still decided to hit the gym today anyway. I managed to get in about 30 minutes on the elliptical and then worked on my back and biceps so I wouldn't exert my legs. Hopefully they're doing alright tomorrow.
Day 104: Rest Day
Legs were feeling the greatest, but they're getting better. I'm icing them and taking Aleve to moderate the pain. I shouldn't really say pain, it's more stiffness that I'm feeling. Didn't want to run my 4 miles today, but I'll run them tomorrow; not sure if I'll go to the track or the gym, but I'm running.
Day 105: Run Day (4 miles)
Ran my 4 miles on the treadmill today and it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I would've stayed to do more at the gym, but I want to stay off my feet as much as I can until I'm one hundred percent. Came back home and iced my knees for most of the day. Here's hoping I feel better by next week so I can do my long run.
Total Workout Days This Week = 3/7
Total Training Workout Days = 85/105
Total Week Mileage = 6.4km (4 miles)
Total Training Mileage = 387.4km (240.71 miles)
Days Until Run Disney = 17 days, 4 hours...
SO it wasn't my most productive week,
but I think sometimes you're allowed to have those
and appreciate the small victories...
like a new half marathon PR. =)
I have to say I wasn't expecting the PR in New Orleans, however it was most definitely welcome -
no one is going to complain when they PR a race,
especially their first one of the year
by 9 minutes and 26 seconds. Wooohooo!
On to week 15!
Day 92: Run Day (30 - 45 minutes)
This was a difficult run for me.. I was having trouble getting into a good groove; I had gotten on the treadmill just after 10pm after a full day of work and having been up since 5am I was glad I at least got to the gym. Well mark this one as a win.
Day 93: Gym Day
Got into the gym today and was just being mindful of the race I have upcoming on Sunday in New Orleans so I did light cardio on the elliptical and some light leg work.
Day 94: Rest Day
I could've gone to the gym today, but I had something far more important to do - went to dinner with a old friend that I hadn't seen in a very long time. Sometimes I regret going out when I have to miss the gym... Not this time. This was probably one of my best decisions of the year and I'm glad I did it.
Day 95: Travel/Rest Day
Today was the day I flew into New Orleans; was up at the crack of dawn and didn't get into our place in NOLA until pretty late. Needless to say there wasn't much working out going on today, except for all of the walking and wandering I did in 3 airports.
Day 96 & Day 97: Exploring New Orleans
No workouts were completed on Friday and Saturday. Granted I could have gone for a run, but all I wanted to do was go to the expo and explore. Between all of the things that I got to see on Friday and Saturday I did a whole lot of walking, so it probably was best that I didn't run or workout - kept my body as rested as possible before the race. These two days couldn't have been more enjoyable... New Orleans is truly an amazing city!
Day 98: Race Day (Rock n Roll New Orleans)
WOW. Couldn't have asked for a better race. A very flat course, the weather was cool and warmed up towards the end, and amazing on course support led to a PR during my first race of the year.
Check out my race recap of the Rock n Roll New Orleans Half Marathon here!
Total Workout Days This Week = 3/7
Total Training Workout Days = 82/98
Total Week Mileage = 26.1km (16.21 miles)
Total Training Mileage = 381km (236.74 miles)
Days Until Run Disney = 23 days, 4 hours...
Finally feeling like myself again this week;
looks like 13 is a lucky number for me.
Managed to fit in 9 workouts in 7 days... Definitely over compensating since I'll be heading to New Orleans on Thursday and I know I won't be hitting the gym as much. Can you tell? I didn't feel like I was pushing myself too much either, which is good; I was doing a lot of cardio that wasn't running and not a lot of strength training - trying to give myself and my legs a much needed break.
Anywho, can't wait for New Orleans!!!! Is it Thursday yet?!?
Day 85: Run Day (30 - 45 minutes)
Last week was pretty rough - feel free to check out my post to see how rough. Anyway, I knew getting back on track was going to be somewhat difficult, but today's run didn't turn out so bad. The end of the run wasn't actually completed on the treadmill - I did the stairs for a bit to cool down. Didn't do much else at the gym - wanted to get home since my baby sister is leaving tomorrow to go back to DC.
Day 86: Gym Day (Legs)
Leg day has gone from my least favourite day to feeling somewhat neutral about it. Started off with a warmup on the treadmill, which was pretty consistent if you ask me. Pretty impressive since I've been all over the place lately. Worked on my legs and then did a 30 minute cool down (15 minutes on the elliptical and 15 minutes on the bike).
Day 87: Gym Day
Today all I did was cardio. I felt like giving my legs a running break and the rest of my body a break as well so I took it to the elliptical for an hour. Went by fairly quickly since I spent the time reading a magazine, so it wasn't as hellish as I thought it would be. =)
Day 88: Gym Day
I was going to take the day off, but I opted for an hour of cardio on the elliptical since yesterday went so well.
Day 89: Gym Day
Opted for a bit of a lighter workout today since it's Friday, but I wasn't taking the day off.
Started off with an hour of cardio on the elliptical on the hill setting. Originally I was going to do my back and biceps today, but with an empty studio I couldn't resist some circuit training. Basically did a rotation of a bunch of exercises for a full body workout. Finished off with some abs and then headed home to some delicious cupcakes!
Day 90: Run Day (30 - 45 minutes)
I've been missing out on two-a-days since I've been working on the weekends lately, but this weekend was my first full weekend off in awhile so there was really no other thought in my mind other than getting 5 workouts in this weekend (1 last night, 2 today, and 2 tomorrow).
Started off my morning by getting to the gym first thing in the morning and getting my run out of the way since I only completed 1 training run this week. Ended up running 6km in 30:38 with all negative splits; wasn't even trying. Woot! Woot!
After my run I did my chest and shoulders workout and finished off with abs. Needless to say I was starving when I got home since I hadn't eaten breakfast yet.
Finished off the day by going back to the gym for an hour of cardio on the elliptical followed by some more abs.
Day 91: Run Day (4 Miles)
It's the weekend so I figured just like yesterday I'd make the most of not having to work. Got up in the morning and got my run out of the way first thing. I ended up finishing 6.5 miles in just under 35 minutes with my "magical mile" hitting an average pace of 4:56. Not too bad considering I was in the gym twice yesterday and haven't taken a rest day this week.
Went back to the gym for round 2 in the afternoon and it felt amazing. Did an hour of cardio on the elliptical and then did my back and biceps workout. #beastmode
Total Workout Days This Week = 7/7
Total Training Workout Days = 79/91
Total Week Mileage = 20km (12.42 miles)
Total Training Mileage = 354.9km (220.52 miles)
Days Until Run Disney = 31 days, 5 hours...
Rough; that's probably the best word I can use to describe week 12. To be honest had Friday's 3 mile run not gone well there's no way I would've even attempted to do 11 miles, especially on the treadmill. I'm not against doing long runs on the treadmill, especially in the Winter, it was just the fact that I wasn't having the greatest week. It's really difficult for me to workout when I'm having a bad week, because it affects how I perform in the gym and that's not what I like to see.
Hopefully week 13 will be a lucky one!
Day 78: Run Day (30 - 45 minutes)
Today I can't even express how much I struggled, because saying a lot would be an understatement. I'm pretty sure that out of the 30 or 40 some odd minutes I was on the treadmill I barely ran 20% of the time... Come to think of it, I don't even know if I ran at all, because it sure didn't feel like it. My legs were already feeling tight from the killer workout I had with Q on Saturday, but they also just weren't feeling right. I knew going in to the gym I was probably going to end up doing intervals, but I was hoping to get a relatively steady pace going. Anyway, from the image below you can see that I had a pretty shitty day. That is all.
Day 79: Gym Day (Back & Biceps)
Just another day... To be honest I wasn't really feeling it on my way to the gym considering how yesterday went down; I did 30 minutes on the elliptical to warm up and I was about ready to go home. Did the workout and then headed home. Like I said, just another day.
Day 80: Rest Day
It's only Wednesday and it feels like the longest week of life... Is it Friday yet? Didn't end up in the gym today due to exhaustion. Worked a 12 hour day and the past two days have been pretty long, so I just needed a break. It's a shame I didn't get more rest considering I barely slept, but what can you do?
Day 81: Run Day (30 - 45 minutes)
After today I'm actually dreading both of my weekend runs. I give up. Went to the gym with the intention of completing my second run of the week and figured I'd get 45 minutes in since Monday was such a struggle and I couldn't even do that. That was pretty much all I wanted to do, but I decided to do get on the elliptical for 20 minutes (since that was barely any cardio) and then do some abs.
Day 82: Run Day (3 miles)
Today was MUCH better.. I feel more like myself today. I just decided to get 3 miles in and I did it. Wasn't too hard and I felt great. Went at my own pace and it was exactly what I needed after the week I've been having. Didn't want to push my luck so after my 28 minutes on the treadmill I decided to go home.
Day 83: Run Day (11 miles)
Today wasn't easy by any means, but it wasn't hard. Today was one of those runs where I felt like I had to get back in tune with myself and my body. My goal going in to today was just to complete the mileage regardless of how long it took me and I didn't do so bad; ended up finishing in just under an hour and 38 minutes. After my run I made sure to stretch it out and then I attempted to do some other stuff, but that didn't last long.
Day 84: Gym Day (Back & Biceps)
Kind of skipped some other days in the gym this week, but that's alright. Next week is going to be a better week. Today I did cardio on the elliptical and then worked out with Q.
Total Workout Days This Week = 6/7
Total Training Workout Days = 72/84
Total Week Mileage = 33.1 km (20.56 miles)
Total Training Mileage = 334.9 km (208.09 miles)
Days Until Run Disney = 37 days, 5 hours...
Ending off week 11 in 2015 makes going to Disney seem like it's actually going to happen now; for the longest time I feel like I haven't really been training for anything... Starting off back in October, February seemed like it was eons away.
I'm really excited not only for my first Disney weekend, but to run with Michelle for her first half marathon. She's the reason I got into running in the first place so it seems very fitting that we'll be sharing this experience together; I'm also REALLY looking forward to the warm weather and to be out of the cold - pretty much getting back to running outdoors.
Day 71: Run Day (30 - 45 minutes)
Today was kind of all over the place with work and personal appointments, but I wanted to make sure I got into the gym and got started on the right foot. Ended up going into the gym right after work and I have to say that parts of the run were pretty rough at times and I'd have to attribute that to what I was eating today; I was all over the place and that's pretty much how I felt while I ran, especially just after the 1.5k mark. After I ran for 30 minutes I did a cool down on the bike for about 20 minutes and then decided to head home.
Day 72: Gym Day (Back & Biceps)
Back and Biceps... I think this is my favourite workout day. Anyway, I ended up getting to the gym just on time for my session with Q so no time for pre-workout cardio. After the workout I just decided to head home.. No cardio today. Felt kind of weird, but I just wasn't in the mood for it. On the bright side, I'm starting to see the progress in my back and biceps workout.
Day 73: Run Day (30 - 45 minutes)
New Years Eve... Wasn't going to let that stop me from getting into the gym. Decided to do a 31 minute run for the 31st of December and I have to say it turned out quite nicely considering I was able to do 6km (3.7 miles). Eventually I'd like to be able to get 4 miles done in 30 minutes, but we'll see how that goes. Did my cool down on the bike for 20 minutes before heading home.
Day 74: Gym Day (Chest & Shoulders)
January 1st and I'm still in the gym - where else would I be? The gym was completely dead today and not full of people with empty new year's resolutions, which was nice; hopefully it stays like this. Got to the gym and after being sidetracked from my workout I started with my cardio on the elliptical and completed 30 minutes. After the cardio I did my chest & shoulders workout followed by an ab workout. Finished off with a 20 minute cool down on the bike.
Day 75: Run Day (4 Miles)
I almost made today a rest day; I worked a full day and then had so many errands to run, but I managed to rush home after work to grab my gym bag and fit in my 4 miles. If I can get an extra day in the gym, it makes my day. The run went pretty well, although my legs felt pretty heavy at times. Pace increased for my Magical Mile and then dropped back down until I decided to pick it up as much as I could towards he end. Finished off with about 4.5 miles in 37:20.
Day 76: Gym Day (Legs)
Saturday night, it's snowing and raining outside with a freezing rain warning in effect and I still went in to the gym - it was leg day. Ended up doing almost an hour and a half of cardio due to a slight miscommunication, but no harm done. Started with 30 minutes of hill training on the elliptical, followed by 30 minutes of cardio on the bike and then decided to throw in a 20 minute cool down on the bike.
Day 77: Gym Day
Today I went in to the gym, because I figured it'd be better than being lazy around the house and doing nothing all day. Ended up doing an hour of cardio on the elliptical and then did about 30 minutes of back and biceps and finished up with abs. Not too bad for a lazy Sunday.
Total Workout Days This Week = 7/7
Total Training Workout Days = 66/77
Total Week Mileage = 18.4 km (11.43 miles)
Total Training Mileage = 301.8 km (187.53 miles)
Days Until Run Disney = 44 days, 6 hours...
Week 10.. That 9.5 miles almost killed me.
There were numerous factors that contributed to it being a not-so-great long run and I can't afford for that to keep happening considering I'll be up to 14 miles on a long run before hitting Disney. I've decided to take a look at my training calendar and sign up for runs where possible, just because those long runs by myself can be rough. For a race I prepare more, which doesn't make sense because I know the distance I'm going to be running regardless. Anyway, here's to next week
- a week with only 1 weekend run!
Day 64: Rest Day
I didn't really need this rest day, as much as I just took the day to do other things. Had plans with friends and it was more important to me to enjoy the day off with them, rather than stress about when to fit in my workout. Hopefully the rest of the week stays on track with the way my work schedule is and with the Christmas holidays.
Day 65: Gym Day
Today was get my butt handed to me by Q day, or in other words I worked out with Q and I did chest and shoulders. This is probably the workout I struggle with most on a weekly basis, so it's a good thing that I just did my cardio warmup on the elliptical. So basically today I got my butt kicked and my upper body is going to hate me for a couple of days.
Day 66: Run Day (30 - 45 minutes)
Today was a pretty hectic day, so the fact that I fit in my first run of the week was an accomplishment in and of itself. My day started off by getting to the mall bright and early to do Christmas shopping since it's Christmas Eve. Surprisingly enough the mall wasn't busy at all and I was in and out in about an hour. Since that got done fairly quickly I had time to get into the gym and run, before heading home to shower and then head off to work.
Day 67: Rest Day ... It's Christmas!
SO today is the first Christmas that I've been able to spend with my family over the past 3 years or so; in previous years I was either already on a beach enjoying the sun and sandy beaches, or I was at the airport ready to escape the cold... Enough about that though. I was up late the night before with my newest obsession, Sons of Anarchy, so waking up early to do anything wasn't going to happen. I was rushed into getting ready since we had a FamJam aka lunch to be at, so I didn't even get breakfast. Had lunch which was fun and then headed home for more Sons of Anarchy and NBA Xmas! After lounging I had dinner with the fam and then headed off to a late shift at work. I know I probably could've found the time to go out today like everyone else who posted about their runs and all that jazz, but it was just nice being around my family for Christmas.
Day 68: Run Day (30 - 45 minutes)
Today is an interesting one. Originally going in to this week I thought I might try and run the Hamilton Boxing Day 10 Miler which I knew would be tough considering yesterday I had to work until 12am the day before, but regardless that was the goal. This weekend's training called for 9.5 miles so this seemed like it'd be a good run, because not only would it be a race but it'd also count as a training run. I missed out on online registration and this morning I woke up after 10am; the run was supposed to start at 12pm so hypothetically I could've made it, I just didn't want to rush it. Didn't charge my watch or my iPod last night, didn't have clothes laid out, I wouldn't have enough time to eat and digest, and it just made me feel slightly on edge. I decided that I wasn't going to run and that decision ate at me all morning. Even after eating breakfast and laying in my bed at 10:45am I thought to myself.. Maybe I can still make it. Anyway, after knowing I wasn't going to be running the 10 miler I gave my gym a call to find out they'd be open until 6pm.
Ended up going in to gym before heading to work for 3pm, because I felt guilty for not running the 10 miler and I couldn't just take another day off. Ran my 30 minutes since I took yesterday off; I could've ran longer but I'm debating doing my 9.5 miles tomorrow rather than on Sunday.
Day 69: Run Day (9.5 miles)
These were some rough miles to get through, no joke. I made it, but it was definitely a mental game today. I knew I'd rather get the run in today rather than tomorrow, so I went for it. After being at work for an early stint in the morning I went home to grab my stuff and I was off. I have to say my fuelling for this run was really off and I obviously wasn't thinking, which is what made it difficult. After running I felt like I could eat anything and everything and it kind of threw off my day. Regardless, another training run done; glad to have that one out of the way.
Day 70: Run Day (2 miles)
This was an easy one compared to yesterday, so there were no complaints running through my mind while I was on the treadmill at the gym. It also happened to be leg day, which was a long time coming. It didn't start off horribly, but I was feeling it towards the end. If I'm at the gym tomorrow you'll see me working out my upper body.. That is all.
Total Workout Days This Week = 5/7
Total Training Workout Days = 59/70
Total Week Mileage = 29.4 km (18.26 miles)
Total Training Mileage = 283.4 km (176.09 miles)
Days Until Run Disney = 52 days, 2 hours...
Week 9 is just about the halfway point in the training plan since the end of week 18 is the actual race weekend and week 19 is the recovery week; can't wait!!! Disney could not come soon enough!
I can definitely say that this week went by really well - I'm actually enjoying just keeping the running to 3 or 4 days a week max. and then using the bike and elliptical for my cardio on other days. My legs feel far more refreshed and I feel like I'm able to finish my runs stronger than I would if I was running more often. Hopefully week 10 goes well since it falls on Christmas and my schedule is all over the place, but I don't foresee myself slacking or letting anything go this late into the game.
Day 57: Run Day (30 - 45 minutes)
Tomorrow night is a session with my trainer so I opted to get my training run in today - I've learned my lesson and I'm not trying to do any of my training runs on the days I train with Q. I also have a long work day ahead of me so I'm just not 100% sure if I'll even be able to get any cardio in tomorrow. *sigh* ... I'm ready for a vacation. Anyway, today's run wasn't too bad since I was able to squeeze it in midday. Kept it at a slower pace since I ran my 7 miles yesterday; ended up with 5.4km in 30 minutes and then had to get home to shower and then head back to work.
Day 58: Gym Day
Today was my first session of the week with Q and we focused on the back and biceps today. It was a pretty good workout, but I felt like I should've been able to do more. He says I just have to give it time for my body to get used to the workouts, I however just don't have patience and feel like I should be able to do everything immediately. It'll be interesting to see how the coming weeks go.
Day 59: Gym Day
I'm really liking warming up with cycling on the bike rather than a short run these days - it's giving my legs a pretty decent break and a different type of workout than I'm used to. After a 15 minute warmup I had a session with Q; today was leg day, so I'm really glad I didn't warm up on the treadmill. Had a decent session and ended it off with HIIT on the bike for 10 minutes.
Day 60: Run Day (30 - 45 minutes)
Today I just went to the gym and did a quick 30 minute run in the afternoon before having to go to work. My body was still feeling the effects of the last few days, so I took it easy and only ended up with just over 5k. Plus, gotta save my legs for the 4 miles I've got ahead of me for Saturday.
Day 61: Rest Day
I decided to take today off since I've been at the gym everyday this past week and just wanted to have some "me" time outside of the gym. Had a great night at BINGO with a friend instead of getting a workout in. #winning
Day 62: Run Day (4 miles)
Had a bunch of things to do today so I didn't get to the gym until later into the evening. It was kind of nice going in after being at work and running a bunch of errands - a great way to cap off the day. Ended up running my 4 miles and then doing my chest and shoulders workout; just another Friday night.
Day 63: Gym Day
Went into the gym to workout with Q this afternoon and it was definitely a good day for a workout. Ended up doing 20 minutes on the elliptical, an easy 20 minutes on the bike, and then another 20 minutes of HIIT on the bike before doing my back and biceps workout. The workout was really good until we got to abs - he might've killed me, but I felt accomplished going home.
